Goal

This document provide instructions on how to use the schema validation tool to find missing, extra, and modified schema objects for a P6 database (either Professional or Enterprise).

For Primavera P6, there is a Professional (standalone) version of the software and an Enterprise version of the software. Within each of these downloads, there is a Database download containing the P6 database validation utility (validate.bat, validate.sh). You *MUST USE* the appropriate version of the utility to match your database. For example, if your database was upgraded to release 8.1 or later, with the use of the Professional software, then you must run the validate utility from the Professional release as well.

Note: If you run the incorrect version of validate, you will get an error during the comparing database schema stage.

After applying Service Pack 1 to P6 v8.2 EPPM, the schema validation tool will fail with the following error when run against the database:  "Error in Comparing database schema : NullPointerException (java.lang.nullpointerException)".  To resolve this issue, please download the following patch for updated schema validation files:  Patch 14640298Reference Bug for schema validation issue:  Bug 14548712
