Plan Level Activity Activity Transaction Timeout - Spawning Activity for Every Policy in the Plan (Doc ID 1363257.1)

Symptoms


On : 8.0.16 version, Activity

When attempting to run a Plan level activity which spawns millions of policy level activities, the following error occurs.

Error
SystemErr.log
SystemErr R com.adminserver.utl.ASExceptionUtl: process plan financial failed on doWrite.

SystemOut.log
TimeoutManage I WTRN0006W:Transaction ... has timed out after 240 seconds.


Steps to Reproduce
The issue can be reproduced by creating a plan level activity which spawns an activity for every policy in the plan.
As the number of policies in the plan grows, the transaction time will increase and may exceed the Application Server timeout setting.


The issue has the following business impact:
Due to this issue, users cannot run the plan level activity without increasing the timeout setting.
