Information in this document applies to any platform.
The Oracle Utilities Meter Data Applications products (Lodestar) include web service (WS) interfaces to Adapter Business Rules (ABR). These interfaces allow lightweight access to the data within the Lodestar database. We are cautioning against using WS interfaces into ABR of type Rate (i.e. calling a Rules Language Rate Schedule). These WS have not been designed to be scalable, and are not suitable for use in a production environment.
Update: The below note is from 1.6 release notes:
Web Services and Rules Language Processing
Oracle Utilities recommends against using web service interfaces with Adapter Business Rules of
type Rate (i.e. calling a Rules Language process). These web services have not been designed to be
scalable when used to execute Rules Language processing, and are not suitable for use in a
production environment. Using Adapter Business Rule (ABR) web services in this way is
not supported. Only Adapter Runtime Service (ARS) web services are supported when executing
Rules Language processing via a web service.
