Payment Center GUI Search Not Working Properly

Payment Center GUI is not giving the proper results when we search in different criteria.
1) The user have 44 payments applied on Oct 1st, 2011. When they search by the data range Sep 22-Oct 02, nothing returned. But, if they narrow down date range search, i.e they did for the period Sep 30-Oct 02, then only 5 records are returned.
2) They have the accounts in the database which starts with "2". They searched with 'Account Number' field in the GUI with "2*", but nothing returned. But, if we search with the account number "2103570", then this account results are returned.
They are currently using BRM Patch Set 8.
