Mapping Rule 'Row 1 Error - Column Name is Invalid. Please Enter a New Name' (Doc ID 1375266.1)

In Oracle Profitability Manager (PFT) 11i, when you edit a Mapping Rule to update a component, after making the change and clicking on the "Apply" button on the main "Update Formula" Mapping Rule screen, the following error appears at the top of the screen:

Row 1 Error - Column Name is invalid. Please enter a new name.

The error prevents you from saving the change to the Mapping Rule.

Steps to Reproduce:
  1. Go to the Profitability Manager responsibility
  2. Go to Business Rule > Mapping
  3. Search for a Mapping Rule and click on Edit
  4. Update the Initial Data Source
  5. Update the Condition and update the dimension component
  6. Click on Apply until you get back to the main Mapping Rule screen
  7. Click on Apply in the main Mapping Rule screen
The error appears at the top of the screen.
