Symptoms
Failing to connect with Instant Messaging clients (eg. iChat on Lion and Adium) where if you change the Resource name to something like, eg. señor (or with Latin characters etc…).
On iChat, it just shows "Connecting…".
The same thing was tried on Snow Leopard and Lion, and with Adium, all leading to a failure to connect to the service.
