Convergence 2 S/MIME Message Verification Failure When Viewed In Outlook Connector

Convergence 2 patch 145711-02 with S/MIME on Solaris 10 sparc
Outlook Connector 7.3 with patch 139162-12.

The needed certificates are installed.

With Convergence 2, messages that are sent signed verify fine in Convergence 2, but when you try to open them in Outlook, you get a pop-up error message in Outlook which shows the following:

 Digital Signature Invalid
 Error:  The message contents may have been altered

The problem is seen even when the customizations within Convergence are turned off.   Outlook refuses to verify and claims that the message was altered, and therefore, the SMIME signature not valid.
