What is Causing imapd Processes to use so much CPU and IO (Doc ID 1391436.1)

Goal

Using prstat we can see the imapd processes on one system are using significantly more CPU than on other, similar systems.  Using iostat and prstat, we can see this system is generating a lot more IO than other systems.

How can we tell what the imapd processes are is doing and why?
