Viewer Legend is Empty Or Coloring Is Incorrect (Doc ID 1397914.1)

An exception is thrown in the client console when attempting to view the Legend in the Viewer.  The console displays this error:

Also, the Legend appears as an empty window:

If the coloring is displayed, the color could be incorrect and not match what is displayed in the viewer.
