How do you obtain a secure certificate for the NMS applications?

With the increased security requirements that are embedded in the latest java versions (1.7.0_45 and higher), there is an increased awareness of the warning dialogs that appear to users launching the NMS application. As system security is a major concern, this document provides some information on the necessary digital certificates that are needed.

What information is available for obtaining secure certificates for the NMS Web application?

When an operator launches a browser and goes to the URL to launch the NMS application, they will initially get a warning that the site has not been verified, is untrusted, or a similar warning.  This would be expected and they can then accept and continue to launch the application or exit and not launch.  Because these are self-signed and are not verified by a third-party certificate provider, you get this particular message in the browser.

Once the operators Add Exception and accept the certificate, they should not see this message again unless the certificate is changed or they delete it from the list of certificates in their browser.
