How To Update comm_dssetup.pl on a DS Consumer when the SUNWcomds Package Is Not Present? (Doc ID 1435957.1)

Last updated on MAY 03, 2021

Applies to:

Oracle Communications Delegated Administrator - Version 7.0.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

Note:  This issue was encountered on a Solaris x86 platform, so any patch references made in this document pertain to that platform.

According to the Communications Suite Directory Server Setup Script (comm_dssetup.pl) documentation, the comm_dssetup.pl script has to be run on all Directory Server (DS) consumers (in addition to the master DS servers).

Initially, the following custom script was run on all DS consumers to accomplish this:

In order to update the version of comm_dssetup.pl, the Comm Servers DS Setup / Directory Preparation Tool patch 118246-23 (or later) needs to be applied.  This is a requirement in order to load the latest patch for the Delegated Administrator (124582-04 at the time this document was written).   But, when we tried to apply patch 118246-23, it failed stating that the SUNWcomds package was not present. The SUNWcomds package is part of the DSsetup utility.

On a consumer, how can we successfully update the version of comm_dssetup.pl, when the SUNWcomds package is not present?
