Event Classes in Outlook Connector Do Not Correspond with Event Classes in UWC/Convergence (Doc ID 1450496.1)

Last updated on MAY 11, 2021

Applies to:

Oracle Communications Convergence - Version 1.0 and later
Oracle Communications Connector for Microsoft Outlook - Version 7.3 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Event Classes in Outlook Connector do not appear to correspond with the Event Classes in UWC/Convergence

When using UWC (and Convergence), the user has 3 possibilities to mark an event:

Public event

Private event

Time and date only

When choosing one of the 3 options, the event is stored in the calendar server (6.3) with the following CLASS: parameters:

Public event => CLASS:PUBLIC

Private event => CLASS:PRIVATE

Time and date only => CLASS:CONFIDENTIAL

So far, so good.

In Outlook Connector you only have the option to mark the event as Private (button Private when creating the event).  So, you can create 2 types of events, normal/public events and private events.  But, when checking how these events are stored in the calendar server, you get this:

Normal/public event => CLASS:PUBLIC

So, a private event in UWC/Convergence is not the same as a private event in Outlook Connector.  It is not possible in Outlook Connector to create an event from the class private.
