Question About NSS Patch Level For Oracle Communications Messaging Server Patch

(Doc ID 1451872.1)

Last updated on SEPTEMBER 14, 2016

Applies to:

Oracle Communications Messaging Server - Version 7.0.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

Is it possible to use the latest NSS patch version for Messaging Server, while the README of the Messaging Server patch refers to an older one?

For example, on the Linux platform:

The README of Messaging Server (64bit) 7u4-24.01 patch 137206-24 shows it requires NSS shared component version 3.12.8 (patch 121656-24), while the latest (at the moment of writing) is NSS patch 121656-26.

Starting with Messaging Server patch 31, NSS is embedded in the Messaging Server packages. Upgrading Messaging Server, whether by ARU or Sun patch will upgrade the version of NSS used by Messaging Server.

If you are using the Solaris-bundled LDAP utilities (ldapsearch, etc), you may want to contact Solaris support to see if an updated OS package for NSS is available yet. Those tools still use the OS-provided NSS/NSPR packages.
