Upgrade to NCC 4.4.1 Did Not Correctly Migrate the Recharge Bonus Into Promotion Events (P98910SMS) (Doc ID 1455635.1)

Last updated on SEPTEMBER 16, 2016

Applies to:

Oracle Communications Network Charging and Control - Version 4.4.1 and later
Oracle Solaris on SPARC (64-bit)

Symptoms

On a system migrated to Oracle Communication Network Charging and Control (OCNCC or NCC) 4.4.1.0.0, the former Bonuses  should be migrated into Promotion Events . This migration did not happen correctly and some promotion events can become missing.

Before NCC 4.4.1.0.0

The Bonuses were configured in the Services - ChargingMax - Wallet Management management screen, where Bonus Types could be associated to Bonus Values:

The Bonus Type is created and associated to a Bonus Set

In this case, 3 Bonus Types are created, all of them associated to the SMS Bonus set

In this case, the "SMS Bonus" set has 4 Start and End Ranges

This configuration means 12 different Bonuses:
  • "ATM"
    • 200 000 to 490 000
    • 500 000 to 990 000
    • 1 000 000 to 1 990 000
    • 2 000 000 to 999 999 999
  • "PGW"
    • 200 000 to 490 000
    • 500 000 to 990 000
    • 1 000 000 to 1 990 000
    • 2 000 000 to 999 999 999
  • "RECHARGE_WEB_"
    • 200 000 to 490 000
    • 500 000 to 990 000
    • 1 000 000 to 1 990 000
    • 2 000 000 to 999 999 999

Since NCC 4.4.1.0.0

The Promotions are configured from the Services - Promotions management screen. The structure is simplified:

The migration from the old framework to the new framework creates 4 different promotions from the old Bonus set, one for each configured Start End range.

The Promotion is created and can be Edited. It can be associated to a Reference - the old Bonus Type - and a Balance Condition - the old Start End ranges:

This screen capture shows the Edition of the migrated promotion SMS Bonus-0

There should be in 12 entries migrated from the old framework to the new framework to have the following structure:

  • "SMS Bonus-0"
    • "ATM" from 200 000 to 490 000
    • "PGW" from 200 000 to 490 000
    • "RECHARGE_WEB_" from 200 000 to 490 000
  • "SMS Bonus-1"
    • "ATM" from 500 000 to 990 000
    • "PGW" from 500 000 to 990 000
    • "RECHARGE_WEB_" from 500 000 to 990 000
  • "SMS Bonus-2"
    • "ATM" from 1 000 000 to 1 990 000
    • "PGW" from 1 000 000 to 1 990 000
    • "RECHARGE_WEB_" from 1 000 000 to 1 990 000
  • "SMS Bonus-3"
    • "ATM" from 2 000 000 to 999 999 999
    • "PGW" from 2 000 000 to 999 999 999
    • "RECHARGE_WEB_" from 2 000 000 to 999 999 999

Instead, the migrated promotions "SMS Bonus-*"  have had configured more Balance Conditions that they should have. The screenshot "Edit Promotion" shows that the "SMS Bonus-0" promotion has received 6 incorrect Balance Conditions (strikethroughed in red on the screenshot above).
