Symptoms

Forge fails with a fatal error and an "Assertion failed: persistenceImpl != NULL" error message, along these lines:

FATAL 06/06/12 20:50:47.669 UTC (1339015847669) FORGE {config}: Assertion failed: persistenceImpl != NULL

Changes

This error occurs when using an externally-managed taxonomy (EMT) in the Forge pipeline, by means of a Dimension Adapter component which uses "XML - Externally managed" format and reads taxonomy data from an XML file (the "EMT source file").
