OFSA Exchange Rate Validation Fails After Upgrading to Oracle 11g (Doc ID 1466027.1)

Last updated on MARCH 04, 2019

Applies to:

Oracle Financial Data Manager - Version 4.5.39 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.
Oracle Financial Services Applications (OFSA)

In Oracle Financial Services Applications (OFSA) 4.5.39, after you upgrade the OFSA Database to Oracle 11g R2, exchange rates are not created correctly and balances created by Allocations, RM Processes, etc. are not getting converted.  As a result, the balances output are wrong for the non-functional currencies.

In Rate Manager, when you enter new Exchange Rates and run the Exchange Rate Validation program, the EFFECTIVE_TO_DATE is changed to NULL for their exchange data in OFSA_EXCHNG_RATE_DIRECT_ACCESS.  This appears to cause the problem in the balance translation.

Additionally, if you review the messages in OFSA_MESSAGE_LOG for the Exchange Rate Validation, there is a "java.lang.ClassCastException" error.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Log into Rate Manager
  2. Enter a new Exchange Rate
  3. Go to Tools > Run > Exchange Rate Validation...
  4. Review the data in OFSA_EXCHNG_RATE_DIRECT_ACCESS

The EFFECTIVE_TO_DATE column is now null.
