14067286 - ASCP Plan Run In Test Is Running Slow - Needs Performance Tuning (Doc ID 1466571.1)

Last updated on NOVEMBER 11, 2021

Oracle Advanced Supply Chain Planning - Version 11.5.10.2 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

11.5.10 - Engine/UI patch 9000516 - RUP #39

The customer is preparing to load additional items into dev. These additional items are currently in the TEST system and the plan run time is significantly higher thanDEV, most likely due to the higher volume.
The completion times in the MBP log are consistently (and proportionally) higher in TEST than DEV, except for some cases where we see a disproportional difference in completion times. The customer is looking for ways to reduce the run time in TEST so that when the cutover to DEV on June 4th allows enough time for the subsequent concurrent requests to complete.
The customer currently runs the plan with plan option Planned Items = All Items. Support suggested considering other options and the customer is currently testing with Planned Items = Demand schedule items / WIP comp / all SOs. This is resulting in significant decreases in run times (but these are preliminary results and require further testing). The customer also noticed that when running this plan option, 200,000+ items show up in the Exception report as 'Items with no activity'.

Profile options are identical between the two instances.

One important note when reviewing the uploaded data files is that the additional items are loaded into production but no demands have been added yet. So during the snapshot phase, an almost identical number of items is being loaded. The MBP process, however, takes significantly longer in TEST because of the demand for these additional items that is not present yet in DEV.

The customer has no plans to upgrade the Engine/UI patch level at this point. However, Support noted that if Development runs the plan on RUP #44 instead of #39 (like the customer) and notices significant differences, we may need to ask the customer to upgrade.
This bug is a request for Development to (1) run the customer's test plan on the latest RUP and (2) provide any other performance recommendations.
