Can I Switch Off the CCS Balance Top Up (CCSBT) Suite Scripts? (Doc ID 1477144.1)

Last updated on FEBRUARY 25, 2019

Applies to:

Oracle Communications Network Charging and Control - Version 4.3.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

By default, installations of Network Charging and Control's (NCC) software will have the Charging Control Service Balance Top Up (CCSBT) Suite partially enabled to run regular crontab (ccs_oper) jobs on the Service Management System (SMS) server.  The CCSBT crontab job scripts create redundant log files, along with creating some confusion for operators, as to whether CCSBT is doing anything meaningful on the system.

CCSBT uses rules to increment balances on a regular basis.  This functionality has largely been superceded by CCS's Periodic Charge and Promotion Manager functionality.  Please refer to CCS Technical Guide documentation for more information on CCSBT usage and functionality.

The aim of this article is to briefly clarify whether CCSBT is running and whether it may be disabled on the SMS platform.
