Does OpenSAFfire 6.2 Support TCP With IPv6? (Doc ID 1485665.1)

Last updated on DECEMBER 04, 2019

Applies to:

Oracle Communications OpenSAFfire - Version 6.2.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

How can I use IPv6 addresses? When input an IPv6 address with "/64" in the dtmd.conf file, osafdtmd errors and reboots the machine. If the address without "/64", osafdtmd hangs. Are only certain types of IPv6 addresses allowed? Does the IPv6 address have to be "Scope:Global" or can it be "Scope:Link"? Does 6.2 even support IPv6?

For example, the output of ifconfig on one of the machines is as follows:

eth1 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr <MAC ADDR>
  inet addr:<IP ADDR> Bcast:<IP ADDR> Mask:<NET MASK>
  inet6 addr: <IP ADDR>/64 Scope:Link
UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
  RX packets:50445 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
  TX packets:15159 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
  collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000
  RX bytes:9263988 (8.8 MiB) TX bytes:9360080 (8.9 MiB)

lo Link encap:Local Loopback
  inet addr:127.0.0.1 Mask:255.0.0.0
  inet6 addr: ::1/128 Scope:Host
  UP LOOPBACK RUNNING MTU:16436 Metric:1
  RX packets:8 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
  TX packets:8 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
  collisions:0 txqueuelen:0
  RX bytes:480 (480.0 b) TX bytes:480 (480.0 b)
