Bidirectional Forwarding Detection protocol Enhancements (Doc ID 1490979.1)

The purpose of this note is to describe the enhancement to the existing VPN EBGP feature of IP Service Activator to support the Bidirectional Forwarding Detection protocol for Cisco IOS XR devices, and JUNIPER devices running JUNOS.

The Cisco IOS XR commands are all under “neighbour <ip_address>” context


This feature applies to Oracle Communications IP Service Activator Release 5.2.4 Patch 19, 7.0.0 Patch 6 and 7.2.0 Patch 1 and Higher.  It is applicable to both Juniper Devices running JUNOS ond Cisco IOS XR devices.

The BFD features will be implemented for the L3 MPLS VPN service, EBGP protocol only. Virtual CE will not implement the BFD feature.  The BFD for other routing protocols such OSPF, RIP, static route will not be implemented.
