mboxlist DB Snapshots are Not Happening (Doc ID 1494916.1)

Symptoms

The normal mboxlist snapshots are not happening, or happening only sporadically.

# ls -lrt <server-root>/data/store/dbdata/snapshots

On ZFS, the size of the the directory (11 above for all but roll, which is 2) is the count of the number of files in the directory.

This shows that the NNN subdirs contain 9 files and the normal . and .. entries, but the roll directory is essentially empty.

The above was taken later in the day on September 25.  Note the date/times of the NNN directories.  The normal 02:00 snapshot -- as per the configutil option:

has only happened once every several days (i.e., September 2, 9, 15, 16, and 24).

And the roll directory, which should contain a rolling snapshot and should be updated every few minutes, is empty and has not been updated in several hours.

Changes

This could be related to normal growth of number of users or activity, but that was not a significant factor in this case.
