How to Reconfigure the NCC Database UNDO Tablespace to Avoid "ORA-30036: unable to extend segment by 8 in undo tablespace 'UNDOTBS1'" (Doc ID 1498539.1)

Last updated on FEBRUARY 15, 2019

Applies to:

Oracle Communications Network Charging and Control - Version 4.3.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

How to reconfigure the UNDO tablespace in the NCC environment when it is in NOAUTOEXTEND mode and ORA-30036 errors occur.

Background

This error is most likely to occur during the resync of a node, possibly during the deployment of that node, but could occur during other times when there are a lot of continuous changes being made to a database.

It can also occur when the UNDO tablespace is too small for the amount of activity that the database regularly handles. This is most likely for platforms that have been active for a while and have grown beyond their configured limits due to the addition of subscribers, data or services that were not anticipated in the initial capacity planning.

This document does not cover capacity planning issues. If you suspect that this is the problem and have other capacity-related issues then contact Support Sales. They can assist with engaging the correct people to assist you with a platform audit and provide recommendations on the hardware, software, configuration and license changes required.
