When Loading An Applet In P6, A 'General Exception' Popup Occurs And The Applet Appears to Hang

When attempting to access an applet in P6 (such as but not limited to the EPS List, Activity List, Time Approval),the applet appears to start loading, and a popup dialog box displays reporting the following error:

General Exception

The name of the applet and the java stacktrace exception in the popup can vary.
