'ORA-00904: "N_INSTRUMENT_TYPE": Invalid Identifier' Error Saving Cubes After Applying Patch 13499204 (Doc ID 1505547.1)

Last updated on MARCH 06, 2019

Applies to:

Oracle Financial Services Analytical Applications Infrastructure - Version 7.2.9 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.
Oracle Financial Services Analytical Applications (OFSAA)

In Oracle Financial Services Profitability Analytics (PFTBI) 5.6, when you try to re-save a Cube like PFTACPRF (Account level profitability) or PFTACPNP (Account Level Profitability with Next Repricing Month) as described in the PFTBI User Guide, the following error appears on the screen:

[4520] Metadata could not be parsed. Please check SQL syntax

When you check the SMSService.log in $FIC_APP_HOME/common/FICServer/logs, the following error exists:

java.sql.SQLSyntaxErrorException: ORA-00904: "FCT_COMMON_ACCOUNT_SUMMARY"."N_INSTRUMENT_TYPE": invalid identifier

The query listed above the error in the log does contain N_INSTRUMENT_TYPE.  However, in the Data Model, N_INSTRUMENT_TYPE was supposed to be removed from FCT_COMMON_ACCOUNT_SUMMARY when you installed Patch 13499204.  So, you do not expect the Cubes to use N_INSTRUMENT_TYPE.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Install Patch 13499204
  2. Go Unified Metadata Manager
  3. Go to Business Metadata Management > Cubes
  4. Click on Search
  5. Select PFTACPRF (Account level profitability)
  6. In Long Description, enter a space and then delete it
  7. Click on Save

The error appears.
