Why the "Ask A Question" field on the search result page does not display the prior search string? (Doc ID 1505654.1)

In the earlier InQuira release (pre v8.2.3), OOTB infocenter will carryover the prior search string at the "Ask A Question" field when displaying the search result page.  And user can click it to further modify it for subsequent search.  However, such behavior is changed in v8.2.3 that the prior search string will no longer carryover when displaying the search result page and the "Ask A Question" field will blank out if user click it to enter/modify for subsequent search.
