Goal
Infocenter is a jsp web application that can be customized by the customer. Potentially there are functions in Infocenter that the customer may not want exposed to the end user, or there is function the customer would like to add. Or the customer may want to change the look and feel of the interface. There are times that the infocenter app has been modified by a Professional Services group. These customizations are the responsibility of the customer to maintain and debug when there are problems with the customizations. At times it is neccessary for the customer to modify these changes. This KM will give the points to understand and consider when making and maintaining customizations in the Infocenter application. In the InfoManager Documentation library there are two useful Books - Oracle Knowledge Information Manager Developer Guide and Oracle Knowledge Information Manager Tag Library Quick Reference. You can find those books here. There are also many helpful KMs to address specific points in the Infocenter interface and Tag Library.
When making customizations they should be documented in site documentation. This way when there are issues these customizations can be known when issues arise.
Support does not debug, work on or advise on customizations, this is done by Oracle Professional Services. There is also a Oracle university class that teachs how to make customizations. If there are unanswered questions about the interface, APIs, or specific functions of Infocenter then a support SR would be appropriate.
