Applies to:Oracle Communications Messaging Server - Version 7.0.0 to 7.0.4 [Release 7.0.0]
Red Hat Enterprise Linux Advanced Server x86-64 (AMD Opteron Architecture)
Issue happened on:
Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.6
Linux 157801l007h2o 2.6.18-238.el5 #1 SMP Sun Dec 19 14:22:44 EST 2010 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
During normal operation one of the instances is having imapd processes with a very high cpu usage. The Messaging Server became unresponsive.
Notice the number of processes waiting for run time, under procs - 'r' column.
Various other symptoms were also noticed - see the list of related articles and bugs under References below - but the main symptom was the incredibly high CPU usage by threads/functions which should have been simply waiting to lock a mutex.
Moved from Messaging Server 5.2 to version 7 and RedHat Linux 5.6.
The problem was not noticed during migration testing, but started as soon as general usage was enabled.
