CatalogMaintenanceService (CMS) runs on each datasource of a switching datasource during deployments of catalog data from a Merchandising server. The CatalogVerificationService section of CMS may be taking a particularly long time to complete on a large catalog or on a site with high traffic.

When CatalogVerificationService is doing a lot of work, SQL queries that are using SELECT COUNT(*) on the tables in the catalog's SQL tables may appear in database reports as taking a long time and a lot of database resources to complete.
