Oracle Retail Advanced Inventory Planning (AIP) makes available a set of Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) that standardize the integration of supply chain data from legacy systems into AIP’s Data Management module.
The AIP Data Management module continues to be the point of entry for, and primary controller of, supply chain network data from an AIP perspective. This data is heavily processed before it is served to AIP’s time-phased replenishment engine. Retailers who choose to maintain this data in legacy systems rather than AIP Data Management must interface this data into the Data Management module directly. Without standardized interfaces, such integration represents a custom effort. With the implementation of APIs, this integration becomes considerably simpler – thus lowering both the cost and complexity of an AIP implementation.
The set of APIs supports a variety of information being managed externally to AIP such as ordering pack-sizes, lead times, store calendars, and warehouse calendars. Retailers will be able to pick and choose which APIs to leverage, determining where it is best for their users to maintain data – reducing data redundancy and streamlining the maintenance activity.
