Why does one imapd process have more threads/connections than the others? (Doc ID 1529597.1)

Last updated on OCTOBER 02, 2024

Applies to:

Oracle Communications Messaging Server - Version 5.2.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

One (or in some cases two) imapd processes have nearly service.imap.maxthreads threads while all the others have only a few threads.

Running pfiles on some of the imapd processes shows that the ones with more threads have 6-7 times as many connections from IMAP clients than the others.

On many other similarly configured systems, the number of threads and connections are relatively even across all the imapd processes.
