Message-ID Header in Outgoing Mail and Copy Saved to Sent Folder Differ When Using Outlook with IMAP Profile
(Doc ID 1533407.1)
Last updated on NOVEMBER 15, 2022
Applies to:
Oracle Communications Messaging Server - Version 5.0.0 and laterInformation in this document applies to any platform.
Symptoms
The Message-ID header in a message sent from Outlook (i.e. as received in the recipient's Inbox) is different to the Message-ID in the copy of the message saved to the sender's Sent folder.
This mismatch can result in difficulties correlating messages in the Sent folder and the Inbox, which can cause problems tracking messages should it become necessary for any reason - for example if an admin wants to track whether a message was delivered, or how it was routed, when the only reference they have is a copy of the mail from the Sent folder.
The problem occurs when Outlook 2007 and 2010 (and maybe other versions) is configured to communicate with the mail server with SMTP and IMAP. The issue occurs for all users for every message sent from Outlook.
