Last updated on AUGUST 19, 2019

Applies to:

Oracle Service Parts Planning - Version 12.1.3 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

 On : 12.1.3 version, Memory Based Planner in Test:

Users are on 12.1.3 and have applied VCP Patch 13833266 120.16.12010000.29 2012/02/22 120.16.12010000.18

Oracle SPP has a functionality to generate Inline Forecast based on Field Service usage history. In order to generate inline forecast and replenishment Plan, the following steps were performed:

1. Load Field Service Usage History
2. Create Forecast Rule based on usage history
3. Attach this Forecast rule to Item using IMM
4. Set us Sourcing Rule and assignment set at 'Zone' level
5. Setup SPP Plan Option and attach the SIM Set and Assignment Set and Org
6. Run Plan with generate inline Forecasting as 'Yes'

Detailed Setup:
SPP plan options:

Main tab:
Overwrite Supplies = All
Overwrite Manual Forecast = All
Schedule by = Schedule Ship Date
Assignment Set = <FCST1-AS>
Item Simulation Set = <SIM1>
Demand Priority Rule = PS Scheduling
Enforce Constraints enabled - all others disabled
Nothing in the forecasting section

Aggregation tab:
30 days/4 weeks/5 periods
Circular Sourcing Enabed - is enabled
Circular Sourcing Surplus Days = 0
Aggregation Allocation Bucket Start Date = 11-FEB-2013 (Plan Start 08-FEB-2013)
Daily Allocation Buckets = 0
Weeks per Aggregate Allocation Bucket = 1

Scope/Org Tab:
Only Org <ORG1> is added with Net Repair, Net Reservations, Net Purchases are enabled
Scope/Items tab - Include All Items is enabled
Optimization is not enabled
Release Rules is not setup

STEPS TO REPRODUCE--------------------------
1. Load Field Service usage History using Self Service load:
Nav: Service Supply Chain Planner > Collections > legacy Systems > SRP Streams Self service

2. Verify that the history is loaded in the MSD DEM table:

I can see 13 records for item = <ITEM1> for various qty's from 01-JAN-2012 to 01-JAN-2013 month by month

3. Define Forecast Rule:

Name = <FCST1>
Enabled Usage/Shipment Based Forecast
History Basis = Usage
Forecast Method = Blended
Forecast Frequency = 1 Week
Accuracy Metric = MAPE

History Range = 12 periods
Forecast Horizon = 12 periods
Forecast Bucket = 1 Week
Calendar Name = INS:Process (built to 2020)

4. Add to Sim set:

Name = <SIM1> - I can see the item <ITEM1> for Zone = US-West has forecast rule <FCST1> setup

5. Define Sourcing Rule and Assignment Set:

Assignment Set = <FCST1-AS>
Item-Instance-Region Instance/Org = <ORG1> - Item = <ITEM1> - Sourcing Rule = <SR1> - Condition = Usable - Region/Zone = US-West
Sourcing rule = Transfer From <ORG1> Rank 1 100%

6. Define SPP Plan Option: - already covered earlier

7. Run SPP Plan with Generate Inline Forecast parameter as ‘Yes’

8. Query Item: - they can see item data

9. Query for supply/Demand
- Plan does not have any data for this Item

After the Plan run, verified for the Demand/Supply for this Item in the Plan. There was not any demand and supply in the planning workbench. Users did make some changes in the setup for weekly/period buckets and did have some errors in MSCFCS module: Memory Based Forecaster but users seem to have got past the error at the moment. With some different settings they can now see supply called Planned New Buy Orders (These peg to excess) but no Net Forecast nor any demand is being generated.

Example Data:
inventory item id = <ITEM_ID>
item = <ITEM1>
org_id = <ORG_ID>
Org = <ORG1>

Expect inline forecast demand to be generated
