DEBUG Messages in the Platform Services catalina.out Log Cause File Size to Grow (Doc ID 1551134.1)

Symptoms

When a server component (Dgraph or Logserver) is started through the Endeca Application Controller (EAC), the $ENDECA_CONF/logs/catalina.out log file shows a steady flow of "DEBUG" messages along these lines showing process ID and state for each such component:

These messages appear regardless of whether the component is started using the Deployment Template, the EAC Admin Console in Workbench/Experience Manager, or the eaccmd utility.

They are not controllable using the $ENDECA_CONF/conf/logging.properties file.

They appear when using the default settings for this file and cannot be suppressed by changing logging to a less verbose setting.

Since these messages continue to be logged approximately every second ("R" state) or every five seconds ("S" state), they will cause the catalina.out log file to grow large over time.
