Information in this document applies to any platform.
When a browser makes an initial request to a site from a referring site, it sends the REFERER HTTP header in the request that contains the URL of the referring site. This information is useful for site analytics tracking (e.g. using Google Analytics) to track where a user came to the site from. When using the Multisite session sharing feature to share session data between multiple domains, the original referrer information is lost when certain browsers are used.
You can read more about how session sharing between multiple domains works under Oracle ATG Multisite in the documentation: ATG Platform Programming Guide > Multisite Request Processing > Multisite URL Management > Sharing a Session Across Multiple Domains.
