Messaging Server Intermittently Giving "unknown or illegal alias" Errors For Valid Addresses
Last updated on NOVEMBER 15, 2017
Applies to:Oracle Communications Messaging Server - Version 7.0.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.
Our primary email domain is abc.com, but we have a few dozen other subdomains and other domains hosted in our email system. We recently added csd.abc.com to our email environment, including adding email@example.com aliases to some of our existing users.
However, this is a VALID address. Most of the email sent to this address is being delivered normally.
I have restarted the MTAs with:
./imsimta cnbuild; ./imsimta restart; and tried stop-msg; and start-msg
but, even after this, the intermittent errors continue.
An imsimta test -rewrite to any of these addresses looks normal, finding the address and routing to the proper message store.
Because of these errors, users in this domain are having trouble receiving email reliably.
Added csd.abc.com hosted email domain and added mailequivalentaddress aliases under the @csd.abc.com domain to several users.
