Can We Use An Ampersand In An Email Address? (Doc ID 1563511.1)

With Delegated Admin 6.4, when attempting to create a user with an ampersand (&) in the email address, a pop-up window is shown stating 'Invalid Email Address':



The only special character used was the ampersand (&) in the email address. For example:  user&

If we would change the Messaging Server option, LDAP_UID_INVALID_CHARS, as described on the wiki page of Valid Message Store UIDs and Folder Names, would that make the ampersand accepted in an email address with Delegated Admin 6.4?
