After making a configuration change for the Messaging Server to switch from one 3rd party authentication server to another authentication server, we're seeing lots of tcp_smtp_server processes crashing and dumping cores.
Changed the following configutil parameters:
sasl.default.authenticationserver value from 'host1-msauth:56' to 'host2-msauth:56'
sasl.default.requireauthenticationserver from '1' to '0'
For more information on the above parameters, see Third-Party Authentication Server Support.
