Message File NNN in user/xxxx Has Wrong Size

Symptoms
After running Messaging Server 7.3-11.01 64bit (built Sep 1 2009) for years, you suddenly start seeing messages like the following in the imap log:
Jul 8 16:37:10 hostname: imapd[22055]: Store: Message file 1324 in user/userid@example.com has wrong size
Jul 8 18:37:53 hostname: imapd[22055]: Store: Message file 1607 in user/userid_1 has wrong size
Jul 8 22:32:57 hostname: imapd[18882]: Store: Message file 2 in user/userid_2 has wrong size
For each user/folder reported, several message files are reported. The error messages for each user/folder all appear at very nearly the same time. The users are not complaining of any problems.
Changes
After more investigation, we determined that the users being reported are using the mail client on a new version of iOS.
