Question About Installation Of Optional Components During Upgrade (Doc ID 1574170.1)

Last updated on JUNE 11, 2018

Applies to:

Oracle Communications Billing and Revenue Management - Version 7.2.1.0.0 to 7.5.0.0.0 [Release 7.2.1 to 7.5.0]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

Qn1:  Considering optional components (like REL) in the upgrade process from 7.2.1 to 7.3, following is adviced as per docs:

a) uninstall 7.2.1 installation
b) install 7.3 version of component

However installation of 7.3 is performed in a separate directory than we had for 7.2.1.

For example, if the $PIN_HOME was originally "/opt/portal/7.2.1", portal 7.3 is now installed in "/opt/portal/7.3".

Considering the above (and since the variables now point to new $PIN_HOME=/opt/portal/7.3), is it really necessary to perform uninstallation of 7.2.1 components, or can new one can be installed directly?

Qn2:  Among the optional components, GSM Manager is one of them. In the upgrade documentation it asks to install the patch 4489. (("30. (Optional) Installing Patch 4489" ))

Should one install the GSM Manager from patch 4489 or 7.3_GSM_Mgr_solaris_32_opt.bin from 7.3 media pack?
