Error: "The Provider Is not Compatible With The Version Of Oracle Client" Attempting To Login To Visualizer Application

 When using an 'Administrator' installation of the Oracle Client, the following error occurs when launching Visualizer from the tools menu within P6 Professional or as a standalone application:

"Unable to connect to the database. Please run the database configuration tool or contact your administrator".

It has also been reported that the following error may also display from the user interface:  

Primavera.Visualizer has stopped working


The Visualizer Log reports following error:

TIMESTAMP Critical General, OpenSession Exception occurred:
System.TypeInitializationException: The type initializer for 'Oracle.DataAccess.Client.OracleConnection' threw an exception. --->
Oracle.DataAccess.Client.OracleException: The provider is not compatible with the version of Oracle client
   at Oracle.DataAccess.Client.OracleInit.Initialize()
   at Oracle.DataAccess.Client.OracleConnection..cctor()
   --- End of inner exception stack trace ---

The visualizer log can be found using the following steps:
1. Browse to Start, Run
2. Type:  %TEMP%
3. Open the file called 'visualizer.log'

1. Install the Oracle Client r11.2.0.3 (using Administrator Installation type)
2. Configure P6 to connect to the database
3. Launch Visualizer from Tools menu of P6 Professional or as standalone application
4. Note error which occurs.
