How to Block all Outgoing Email ? (Doc ID 1586162.1)

Last updated on JUNE 22, 2023

Applies to:

Oracle Communications Messaging Server - Version 5.2.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

How to limit the number of retries for attempts to send mail to a disallowed external domain?
Or how to prevent such attempts entirely?

In this case, the customer wanted email, for all users of this system, to be entirely limited to users of this system. They can send mail to each other, but they cannot send mail to, or receive mail from, anyone in any domain outside the local system.

They had customized Convergence to hide the option to set automatic forwarding, but if they tried to send a message, users would get periodic notices that messages were still being retried and eventually (several days later) non-delivery notices saying messages had failed.
