Error Unknown Number: Object Does Not Exist When Adding Items to Affected Items Tab

Symptoms


 When attempting to add an item to a change object via drag/drop, add with type-ahead or add via search the following error occurs.
 The user performing the add action has the discover/read privilege based on a subclass level.

 Error:
 Unknown Number: Object does not exist.

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

Restricted Read Privilege issue:

1. In Java Client create a Role, ROLE.
2. Add the below privileges to it:

* Create Eng Changes
* Discover Changes
* Discover Items
* Enforce Field Level Read
* Modify Eng Changes
* Read Changes
* Read Option Class
  - Criteria is Option Class (subclass of Parts)
  - Applied to field includes all fields.

3. Associate this role to a user USER.
4. In Web Client, create an ECR, R00001
5. Run a search for all Option Classes and put into navigator pane.
6. Open the Affected Items tab of the R00001
7. Drag/drop the option classes on to the AI tab and get error: Unknown Number: Object does not exist.
8. Try to add by typing in and get the same error.
9. Try adding by search and still same error.


Restricted Discovery Items Privilege issue:

1. In Java Client created a Role, ROLE2.
2. Add the below privileges to it:

* Create Eng Changes
* Discover Changes
* Discover Option Class
 - Criteria is Option Class (subclass of Parts)
* Enforce Field Level Read
* Modify Eng Changes
* Read Changes
* Read All Items

3. Associated this role to a user USER2.
4. In Web Client, create an ECR, R00001
5. Run a search for all Option Classes and put into navigator pane.
6. Open the Affected Items tab of the R00001
7. Drag/drop the option classes on to the AI tab and get error: Unknown Number: Object does not exist.
8. Try to add by typing in and got the same error.
9. Try adding by search and still same error.

 

Restricted Discovery Changes Privilege issue:

1.    In Java Client create role: ROLE3
2.    Add below privileges to it:

* Discover Change Requests           
* Discover ECOs           
* Discover Items           
* Modify Eng Changes           
* Modify Items           
* Read Changes           
* Read Items      

3.    Add role to user USER3
4.    In Web Client, open or create an item that has pending changes: P00001 and put into navigator
5.    Open or create an ECR or ECO
6.    Try to add the item that has pending changes P00001 onto the affected item tab of either the ECO or ECR.
8.    Get warning: Part P00001 is already on pending changes: No Privilege.
