Starting with patch 28 for Messaging Server, running Red Hat Linux, the popd process(es) uses more than 100% cpu.

The issue has the following business impact:
The problem may grow gradually. At first only one thread is doing it - so it only uses all of one (virtual) CPU. As more threads start doing it, it uses more and more of the available CPU until overall system performance suffers and POP and IMAP response times degrade.
This issue was introduced when patching to patch revision 28.
