"[NONEXISTENT] Mailbox does not exist" Error When Clicking on "Get Mail" Button Within Convergence

When clicking the 'Get Mail' button, a popup is received with the text '[NONEXISTENT] Mailbox does not exist' .
Then, once clicking on OK, the mail can be seen.
The Convergence auto-refresh of mail did not suffer this problem, only the manually initiated 'Get Mail' refresh.
The issue can be duplicated with the following steps:
- Enable the "client.updateunreadcount" iwcadmin option,
such that when "Get Mail" is clicked, it tries to fetch the unread count for all folders (rather than just the INBOX).
- In Thunderbird, create a new folder called "test1/test2".
Do this in one shot, do *not* create "test1" and then "test2" under it,
just specify the new folder name to be "test1/test2".
- Now, login to Convergence and click "Get Mail", and the error should be generated.
