18.104.22.168 Install Errors Failed to Install JDK and The installation failed to found any association to .pdf files

Information in this document applies to any platform.
Customer is trying to upgrade their application to 7315.
While running the installer at the Pre Installation Summary they get the following message:
Failed to Install JDK
Failed to complete JDK 1.5.0_22 installation
Please install JDK 1.5.0_22 manually
User clicks OK and then the installation comes with the following message:
The installation failed to found any association to .pdf files on this machine.
The installer will not install Acrobat Reader on this machine. Please follow Acrobat Reader Installation instructions while it is being installed. Once Acrobat Reader installation is complete, please close Acrobat Reader's installation window; this installation will then continue automatically
At this point nothing happens and everything stops and user has to abort the upgrade
Also the customer has both Java and Acrobat Reader installed on his server and the environment variables are all fine
The install logs show the following message
