Error "Unable to find valid certification path to requested target" When Running the Primavera P6 Integration API Application (Doc ID 1642600.1)

Symptoms

When attempting to execute an application which utilizes the Primavera P6 Integration API the following error occurs during login.

ERROR - Failure attempting to authenticate user <UserName> javax.naming.CommunicationException: simple bind failed: <server name>:636 [Root exception is javax.net.ssl.SSLHandshakeException: sun.security.validator.ValidatorException: PKIX path building failed: sun.security.provider.cert path.SunCertPathBuilderException: unable to find valid certification path to requested target]

Caused by: sun.security.validator.ValidatorException: PKIX path building failed: sun.security.provider.certpath.SunCertPathBuilderException: unable to find valid certification path to requested target
