How To Maintain Manual Safety Stock Levels For Use In Inventory Optimization Plan (Doc ID 1666367.1)

Last updated on APRIL 07, 2023

Oracle Inventory Optimization - Version 12.1.3.8 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

There are two places where you can maintain manual safety stock levels to be used by Inventory Optimization.

  1. Collections Workbench in the Planning instance
  2. Item Safety Stocks form in the EBS instance

Each of these options pose their own set of problems.

Collections Workbench

Safety stock maintained in the Collections Workbench will be overwritten during each run of the Planning Data Collection.  Therefore, you must develop a strategy to continually enter the safety stock levels after each collection run.

Item Safety Stock Form

The only items that can be entered into this form are those with the item attribute Safety Stock Method set to Non-MRP Planned.  When collections is run, the data will be populated into MSC_SAFETY_STOCKS (as if the data were manually entered through the Collections Workbench), but because the Safety Stock Method is set to Non-MRP Planned, it will not get picked up by the Inventory Optimization Plan run.

How can you maintain manual safety stock levels to be considered by Inventory Optimization without having to manually enter new safety stock levels after each Planning Data Collection run?
