ORPOS Client is Not Showing the Correct Status when Server is Shut Down/Started Up (Doc ID 1673933.1)

Last updated on JULY 13, 2017

Applies to:

Oracle Retail Point-of-Service - Version 13.3 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Scenario 1:

The Oracle Retail Point of Service (ORPOS) client is showing 'online' status even though the Server is shut down, but when clicking on the status link, Database shows offline.  We expect that the main status should be offline, as the ORPOS Server is shut down.

Steps to Reproduce:
Prerequisite: Server/Client should have offline DB populated.

  1. Initially all the components (CO, BO, Server, and Client) are up.
  2. Then shut down the ORPOS Server.
  3. Status is still shown as 'Online' in the status region of main screen / Sell Item screen.
  4. Database status is still shown as 'Online' in the device/database status screen, even though the Server is shut down.
  5. Restart the ORPOS Client (Note: Server is still shut down).  In the main screen, the status is shown as 'Online'.
  6. After clicking the hyperlink, the Database is shown as 'Offline'. This is valid.
  7. When one clicks 'Enter/OK', the status is still shown as 'Online' in the status region.  The status should change, but it is not changing.
  8. The same issue exists in the Sell Item screen and 'System Status' option from the ORPOS -> Administration -> Manager link.
  9. Status region continues to show 'Online' whereas Database/Device status shows 'Offline'.

Scenario 2:

ORPOS client is not changing the status to 'online' when the store server is brought up, which was shut down initially.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Initially both Store server and POS client are up.
  2. Shut down the Store server.
  3. Restart the POS client.
  4. Client was showing the state as 'Offline' since the StoreServer is down.
  5. Now, restart the StoreServer.  Client still shows the state 'Offline'.

Scenario 3:

ORPOS Client is showing the online status in 'Red' color instead of 'Green'.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Start ORPOS Client only (i.e., Server should not be running).
  2. Scan a few items.
  3. Start the Server.  Client comes into online mode and shows 'Online' in status panel.
  4. Select 'Pricing' button.
  5. 'Online' will be displayed in status panel, but in 'Red' color instead of 'Green'.
