Receiving a 'False' Response When Calling UpdateSaleReturn Web Service

In Oracle Retail Store Inventory Management (SIM) 13.2.x, the response for the updateSaleReturn message is arriving as 'false'.   This is reducing the Stock On Hand (SOH), assuming the transaction type is SALE.  In the STAGED_MESSAGE table, the processing status of the message is 'Y'; however, there is no entry in POS_TRANSACTION table for the transaction.

There is no exception thrown while accessing the Web Service, nor is there any exception entry in the sim-server.log and sim_server.out files.  Hhowever, after the Web Service is called, in the response page updatestatus is shown as 'false'.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Using the Web Service page, post a SALE transaction on the updateSaleReturn Web Service.
  2. Notice that the response is returned as false.
  3. Upon analyzing the data in the STAGED_MESSAGE, POS_TRANSACTION, and POS_TRANSACTION_HISTORY tables, it is clear that the POS transaction is successfully processed.
  4. Since the updateSaleReturn Web Service only injects the message into the staging area of SIM, the Web Service should return 'true' on successfully injecting the message to the staging area. However, it is returning 'false' even though the message was successfully injected.
