Last updated on JULY 09, 2015

Applies to:

Oracle Endeca Server - Version 7.6.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Endeca Server uses incorrect hostname. As part of the run_endecaserver_install.sh, the checkhostname class returns a different hostname as compared to the hostname command:

=========================================================
$ java checkhostname
Hostname = hostnameA
$
$ hostname
hostnameB
$
$ cat /etc/hosts
127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost
::1 localhost6.localdomain6 localhost6
111.11.111.111 hostnameB.oracle.com hostnameB

=========================================================

and the application is installed on the wrong interface.

Note: checkhostname.class is part of the linux_OC.tar -- provides as part of Endeca download.
